  3. From Interest to Passion -- Transition to designing and building

    Tom sold his first bike in 1973 at the age16 to his best friend Donny McBride. As news and interest spread of Tom’s custom frames, demand grew from word of mouth and by his senior year in high school Tom was building 200-250 frames a year. This early experience in frame building served as an important factor in developing Tom’s passion for the sport and fostered a high regard for a craftsman’s approach to product refinement. These formative years gave Tom the opportunity to experiment with his ideas before having to consider the challenges of operating a business and earning enough to support himself.

  4. Ritchey Lunch Ride with Tom

    Tom recently joined us on our lunch ride and then hung around the office for a post ride meeting. We had a great ride.  We took him out on our lunch ride TT course and explained to him just how competitive this TT idea has become.  Matter of fact, Nick couldn't hold back for an easy ride...once he hit the "start line", he was off like a gun going for the record.  We met up with him up at the top of the course.

    Tom and Martha Arrive in Pucon, Chile

    Tom is off on another adventure! He and his friend Peterson Conway have entered the Trans Andes Challenge, a 6 stage mountain stage race in the heart of the stunning Patagonian Andes Mountains between Chile and Argentina. Tom and Martha arrived in Pucon, Chile yesterday.  First order of business...set up their Break-Away Tandem Bike and head out for a spin!  Here are a few photos we've receive from their trip thus far.

    After the Interbike Show in Las Vegas Tom Ritchey and Thomas Frischknecht went on another adventurous trip. Their good friend NOD (gNarly Old Dude), prepared and guided them on a very special trip. He is an Apache Indian with a very interesting history in his life. In the sixties he was a professional musician, now turned painter - who is doing some amazing native art.
